It used 3 AA batteries, so I opted for rechargeable which lasted quite a while. I do wish the unit use rechargeable built in battery so you don't have to deal with changing out battery. Play Bulb app allow change of various mode, grouping and sync of lights Overall the candle light are pretty unique and cool way to add a relax ambience to the room. I like the fact that you can use this in conjunction with many other Mipow light bulbs and light and they all works well together especially in group control.
