Welcome to my humble YouTube channel where I document the huge project I have taken on to build a secret underground bunker in my backyard. I'll be the first to admit that I have taken some inspiration from a popular YouTuber called Colin Furze but I feel like my project is a little unique from his for a number of reasons. Firstly I don't have the resources he has available to him. My secret underground bunker is being built with just simple hand tools and hand held power tools so nothing that most home work shops are not likely to have. Also I'm trying to keep it as low cost as possible. And I'm trying to keep it a secret from my neighbours. The main reason I'm building a bunker is as a safe haven from natural disasters such as extreme weather events. I want to make it into a comfortable and safe place that I can retreat to and live in for several months if need be. I've always been a bit of a prepper and to be honest there has been a couple of times when this mindset has meant that I haven't suffered any discomfort or inconvenience during times of difficulty. The most recent couple of events were the cyclone Gabrielle and Covid 19. While these weren't end of days events (or shtf events) they had the potential to cause extreme inconvenience. Gabrielle knocked out the power and water out our way for a few days but thanks to being prepared we had plenty of drinking water and water for washing etc. as well as alternative sources of light and means to cook. Covid 19 brought with it supply line issues and shortages as well as being unable to visit the shops. Thanks to being prepared and well stocked up on essentials this didn't cause any problems. If you've read all this - well done! To be honest I've mainly put it here in hopes that it'll help the YouTube algorithm find the right audience for my videos :-)
