This video explains the NOTCH3-SVD staging system, a new framework to classify the severity of CADASIL and other NOTCH3-related small vessel diseases. The staging system defines nine disease stages using MRI findings, lacune count, and clinical features. It provides a structured method to understand disease progression, improve patient care, and support future studies. Originally developed by researchers at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in collaboration with several international experts, the staging system has been translated into a clear educational format by the VASCERN Neurovascular Diseases Working Group, who also reviewed and validated the content presented here.
