California Fair Plan Basics.

California fair plan is a "carrier of last resort" but with so many carriers backing out of homeowners insurance in California, it has almost become a "carrier of only resort". it is not a carrier, per se, but more of a state run collective for those homeowners which do not fall into the "normal" underwriting model of admitted carriers. It is mostly for fire related risks and requires multiple attempts to find a suitable alternative. as brokers, we must sign off that a diligent search was performed prior to placing with FAIR. in accompaniment to FAIR, a DIC (Difference in Conditions) plan picks up where it leaves off, with options like Liability. this is a short sample of possible coverage options, they change and may not be available at time of reading this post.
