The 2025 Volkswagen Amarok dual-cab pick-up couldn't have a better starting place, being based on the best-selling Ford Ranger. As such, the German ute has Australian design and engineering prowess behind it, so it's more localised than many buyers might realise. Either way, it better be good if it's to compete with the Toyota HiLux, Isuzu D-Max and Mitsubishi Triton. And having arrived Down Under in May 2023, the second-generation Amarok has been treated to its first model-year update, with four-figure price rises ushered in alongside the range-wide standard fitment of a brake controller to further bolster its towing capability, with a braked capacity of 3500kg still offered.
