In 2019, CGIAR Climate Security began as a small team asking how climate research could better support peacebuilding. Six years on, it operates across seven regional hubs, with more than 60 experts working in over 20 climate and security hotspot countries — now a recognised actor in the humanitarian-development-peace space. This growth has been shaped by partnerships with humanitarian agencies, governments, researchers, and local leaders, helping CGIAR and Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT integrate climate risk into aid and peacebuilding efforts.
