SOTT Earth Changes Summary - September 2025: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

September featured significant seismic activity, including a deadly magnitude 6 earthquake in eastern Afghanistan that claimed over 2,200 lives, alongside notable volcanic eruptions and widespread flooding from heavy rains and typhoons. A mid-month geomagnetic storm produced visible auroras in the northern U.S., highlighting ongoing solar influences amid patterns of planetary upheaval. Major earthquakes caused widespread damage and loss of life: Afghanistan: A shallow magnitude 6 earthquake on September 1 killed more than 2,200 people and injured thousands, with aftershocks complicating rescue operations. Russia's Kamchatka region: A magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook the far east, leading to structural assessments and temporary evacuations. Off Russia's far east: A magnitude 7.4 quake prompted a brief tsunami warning, which was later canceled after no major waves materialized. Indonesia's Papua: A shallow magnitude 6.1 earthquake caused residents to seek higher ground amid fears of aftershocks. Venezuela: Two shallow earthquakes of magnitudes 6.2 and 6.3 on September 25 affected multiple areas, resulting in minor damage and heightened alert levels. Heavy rains, typhoons, and associated landslides led to flooding and evacuations: The Philippines and southern China: Super Typhoon Ragasa triggered widespread flooding, infrastructure damage, and massive evacuations. Indonesia (Bali and other areas): Flash floods killed at least 19, with 15 inches of rain in 24 hours; additional landslides added to the toll. India (Uttarakhand and Kolkata): Landslides and flooding killed 15 in Uttarakhand and 10 by electrocution in Kolkata after nearly 10 inches of rain. Taiwan: Storms caused widespread floods, leaving 2 dead, 30 missing, and massive evacuations. Central Japan: A strong tornado with gusts up to 270 km/h damaged structures and was among the most intense recorded in the country. North Dakota, USA: A rare September tornado outbreak affected multiple areas, damaging dozens of homes. Wichita, Kansas, USA: Supercells brought baseball-sized hail, impacting vehicles and buildings. And a couple of unseasonable snowfalls: Western Mongolia: Nearly 2 feet of snow fell in Zavkhan province, affecting travel and livestock. Rize district, Turkey: Unexpected snow covered the area, an anomaly for early autumn. A large sinkhole approximately 160 feet wide suddenly formed on a busy road in a residential area of Bangkok. The collapse pulled down nearby power lines and exposed a burst pipe that was gushing water, causing cars to teeter on the edge of the crater. Authorities attributed the incident to recent heavy rainfall combined with a leaky underground pipe. No injuries or fatalities were reported, though the event prompted immediate evacuations in the surrounding area to ensure public safety.
