... or any other goddam life would do. There is interesting and rather beautiful sunlight filtering through the blind at the beginning of this video which gradually fades over the three minutes or so. Such are the highlights of my actual life. I have a rather vague idea of what this song is about. It was written when I cared less about clarity and having something to say than I do now. But the idea came from seeing a guy on Shepherd's Bush Green who seemed to be homeless - dishevelled and sitting on a bench with a few carrier bags - but who was wearing a well-tailored business suit. And he looked euphoric, as if seeing the world for the first time. At least that's how it seemed to me. Of course he may have been given the suit, he may have been mentally ill or off his face or just in need of a shave and a dry cleaner. Anyway the lyric seems vaguely appropriate for our current predicament. There's certainly a bit of pent-up frustration in the guitar at the end. Making these home videos has reminded me of a few of my shortcomings as a performer. I won't list them because you might not have noticed them all. But one is that I breathe like a walrus when I'm playing, which has always made recording acoustic guitar problematic. And I wasn't really aware of how much gurning I do. Hyperactive right eyebrow. Or perhaps this is new. I've tried to keep it to a minimum. The tinted glasses help a bit. Arguably. I do know, incidentally, that people who wear sunglasses indoors look like twats. Hey ho. Bit late to worry about that now. Anyway I must stop, I'm going off on one. I might do a few more of these videos because this sure ain't over yet. I'll start with earlyish stuff and pray my other life interrupts before I have to work out an acoustic version of the 13-minute Duck Dance.
