Türk Öğrenciler Dünya Şampiyonu Oldu / Yeditepe Üniversitesi

Yeditepe Üniversitesi, Birleşmiş Milletler'e bağlı Uluslararası Sivil Havacılık Örgütü (ICAO) tarafından düzenlenen prestijli Innovation Competition'da "Yapay Zeka Destekli Hava Trafik Kontrolörü Yönlendirme ve Destek Sistemi" projesiyle dünya birincisi oldu. Türkiye, 193 üye ülkeyi kapsayan bu küresel organizasyonda havacılık güvenliğine yönelik geliştirdiği yenilikçi çözümle zirveye yerleşti. Kanada'nın Montreal kentinde gerçekleştirilen Innovation Fair 2025'te uluslararası jüriye sunulan proje, yüzlerce başvuru arasından sıyrılarak hem teknik yenilik hem de toplumsal fayda kriterlerinde en yüksek puanı aldı. Birincilik getiren bu çığır açan sistem, özellikle deprem, savaş, ağır hava koşulları ve havaalanı kazaları gibi kritik kriz anlarında hayati önem taşıyor. Sistem, yapay zeka desteğiyle hava trafik kontrolörlerine saniyeler içinde karar desteği sunarak: • Uçak tipi, mesafe ve hava durumu gibi parametreleri analiz ederek en uygun havalimanını otomatik belirliyor. • Uygun havalimanı bulunmadığında, uydu verileriyle en güvenli alternatif iniş noktalarını tespit ediyor. • Kriz yönetiminde operasyonel sürekliliği ve yolcu güvenliğini maksimize ederek riskleri en aza indiriyor. Yeditepe Üniversitesi Kurucu ve Onursal Başkanı Bedrettin Dalan, törende yaptığı konuşmada, bu başarının Türk gençliğinin bilim ve teknoloji alanındaki yetkinliğini gösterdiğini belirterek, "Gençlerimiz de genç akademisyenlerimiz de ciddi olarak gece gündüz laboratuvarlarda çalışıyorlar. Devletimiz de bu konulardaki çalışmaların arkasında duruyor," dedi. Projenin akademik danışmanlığını üstlenen Yeditepe Üniversitesi Rektör Yardımcısı Prof. Dr. Oğuz Bayat ise: "Bu birincilik, küresel arenada ne kadar güçlü çözümler üretebildiğimizi gösterdi. Bu ödül, yalnızca üniversitemiz için değil, ülkemiz için de büyük bir gururdur," açıklamasını yaptı. Umutcan Sürücü liderliğindeki öğrenci ve mezunlardan oluşan multidisipliner ekip, uluslararası başarının ardından projenin patent sürecini başlattı. Ekip, yurt dışından gelen davetlere rağmen, sistemin ilk saha denemelerini ilgili kurumların izniyle öncelikle Türkiye'deki kriz senaryoları üzerine yapma ilkesini benimsiyor. Projenin, havacılık güvenliğinin yanı sıra afet yönetimi ve kriz senaryolarında da kullanılması hedefleniyor. Yeditepe University has won first place in the prestigious Innovation Competition organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, with its project titled “AI-Supported Air Traffic Controller Guidance and Assistance System.” Representing Türkiye, the team reached the top among 193 member states with its innovative solution designed to enhance aviation safety on a global scale. Presented to the international jury at the Innovation Fair 2025 in Montreal, Canada, the project stood out among hundreds of submissions, earning the highest scores in both technical innovation and social impact categories. This groundbreaking system, which brought Türkiye the world championship, plays a vital role during critical crises such as earthquakes, wars, extreme weather conditions, and airport accidents. Powered by artificial intelligence, the system supports air traffic controllers by providing real-time decision assistance that: • Analyzes parameters such as aircraft type, distance, and weather conditions to automatically determine the most suitable airport. • Identifies the safest alternative landing points using satellite data when no appropriate airport is available. • Minimizes risks by maximizing operational continuity and passenger safety during crisis management. Bedrettin Dalan, the Founder and Honorary President of Yeditepe University, stated during the ceremony that this success demonstrates the competence of Turkish youth in science and technology, emphasizing: “Our young people and young academics work diligently day and night in laboratories. Our state also stands firmly behind these scientific efforts.” Prof. Dr. Oğuz Bayat, Vice Rector of Yeditepe University and academic advisor to the project, noted: “This first-place award proves how strong our solutions can be on a global scale. It is a great source of pride not only for our university but also for our country.” The multidisciplinary team, composed of students and alumni led by Umutcan Sürücü, has already initiated the patent process following their international success. Despite invitations from abroad, the team remains committed to conducting the first field trials in Türkiye, focusing on national crisis scenarios with the permission of relevant authorities. The project is expected to contribute not only to aviation safety but also to disaster management and crisis response systems.
