March 24th would mark the inagural run for the 2018 Easter Excursions at the Whippany Railway Museum. I was able to get a ride in the cab and met a very nice railroad employee who allowed me to blow the horn and sit in the engineers seat heading back westbound. He also gave alot of good info about the railroad. The title says it all basically. FL9 488 was built for the New Haven railroad in 1956, and over the years it saw service on the Penn Central, Amtrak, and was aquired by the Morristown and Erie in the late 90's for service on the railroads subsidiary railroad: the Maine Eastern. when the Maine Eastern lost the contract to run on the Rockland Branch in 2016, the locomotive moved back to Morristown and now runs most of the dufferent excursions scheduled by the M&E or the Whippany Railway Museum. This run was on the M&E Whippany Mainline from milepost 4 to milepost 8.25. ENJOY!
