What's the difference between an anxiety attack and a panic attack? • Panic Attack: A clinically defined condition backed by extensive research. It’s characterized by sudden, intense episodes of fear that come on quickly. A panic attack is diagnosed when you experience at least four specific physical or cognitive symptoms—such as shortness of breath, dizziness, a racing heart, or an overwhelming fear of losing control or dying. • Anxiety Attack: Not an officially recognized medical term. Instead, it’s a more general description used to explain high levels of anxiety that build gradually over time. Because it’s not well-defined, its symptoms can vary greatly from person to person, and there isn’t as much focused research on it.
