Deira is one of the oldest and most historic parts of Dubai, located on the eastern side of Dubai Creek, opposite Bur Dubai. •Location: Close to Dubai International Airport, bordered by the Creek, Sharjah, and the Persian Gulf. •Character: Known as the traditional heart of Dubai, with bustling streets, souks (markets), and a strong mix of cultures. •Famous Souks: o Deira Gold Souk – world-famous for gold jewelry. o Spice Souk – aromatic spices, herbs, teas, and traditional goods. o Perfume Souk – traditional Arabic perfumes and oils. •Popular Streets: Al Rigga, Naif, Al Sabkha, Baniyas Square – full of shops, restaurants, and busy local life. •Transport: Abra (traditional wooden boats) across the Creek, plus metro stations (Union, Baniyas Square, Al Rigga). •Culture: A blend of Emirati heritage and expatriate communities (South Asian, African, Arab, Filipino, etc.). Al Sabkha (السبخة) is one of the oldest and busiest areas in Deira, Dubai. It’s a traditional neighborhood located near the Dubai Creek and very close to the Deira Gold Souk, Naif, and Baniyas Square.
