Hi all, I was just outside as the temps blasted into the low 60's, and the bees made for the pollen substitute! I know the video quality is terrible since there are nearly no cell phone towers out this way. For those wanting to know what pollen sub this is, it's the only one I use. Ultra-Bee Dry Pollen Sub, it's sold by Mann Lake. My honey bees only use it for a brief period of time, about two weeks before the trees really kick in. 10 lbs is more than enough for my colonies (19-20) at the moment 100 yards from where I placet these egg cartons. I put the dry pollen sub on egg cartons (the paper kind) so the bees can easily get their footing and get right back out. Smooth bins, jars, plastic pipes can often leave them scrambling for good footing and they can end up dead in pollen sub as temps drop back down at sunset.
