We wouldn't do anything that would intentionally harm his health in any shape or form, and this was definitely the right choice for us and his long-term health. Just food for thought- the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed often suffers from a hereditary disease called Syringomyelia. According to Google, it is "an extremely serious condition in which one or more of these "syrinxes" or "syringes", develop within the spinal cord near the brain". One of the theories to potentially avoid this terrifying disease is to wait AT LEAST a year before neutering/spaying so they can grow and develop properly and fully in their puppy stage. That is why we personally did not listen to our vet telling us to neuter him at 6 months of age. This is our own personal reasoning for doing this now when he is fully grown, but please do your own research and make sure to consult with multiple resources!
