Legend Mode: Battle of Mai Castle "Surrender or die!" Zhang Liao is simply incredible in this game on Chaos difficulty. He can basically do everything with his normal attack string, C6 and his regular Musou. With a Musou bonus on his weapon, he can defeat generic officers with a single Musou. Against playables, he'll need a few preceding attacks and Musou to secure the kill. That's pretty good in my books. His third hit of his normal string is his weak area. That jab covers poor range and puts Zhang Liao at risk of getting hit. I would recommend using it against small crowds or turning Zhang Liao away once he gets to the third hit to give him some room against the enemy. This should also be a given, but his normal attacks are best used against approaching crowds. I would not advise trying to start his string in the middle of a crowd. C6 is pretty consistent at freezing and it can be used to exploit enemy officers' block to connect Zhang Liao's Musou. While Zhang Liao's Musou doesn't benefit from ice since it's a grounded Musou, it can help with his Musou strikes hitting since it has a syncing issue. Typically, you can use C6 safely as long as it can clear enemies around Zhang Liao and he doesn't get swarmed. His fourth weapon is serviceable on Chaos difficulty, but I find having the Musou bonus to be pretty important to maximize his performance. I honestly prefer playing him outside of Musou Rage because his True Musou juggles. You'll need to make use of the Ice Orb against commanders to get full damage during Musou Rage. The extra speed on Zhang Liao's weapon helps him hit confirm into his Musou with his first two normal attacks. It's also great for running away after executing C6 successfully. I would not go past his second normal attack for hit confirming since his third attack moves him forward and can miss enemy officers. That's pretty unsafe, but avoidable when played correctly. He's probably the best character in his faction on Chaos difficulty. I would put him at the upper part of high-tier. Weapon: ITT medium weight weapon with Attack, Musou, Fill, Speed. Items: Ice Orb, Tiger Amulet, Green Scroll, Wind Scroll, True Way of Musou, Ginseng.
