For the family holiday we wanted to do something different this year. We wanted to go some where quiet where we could relax, but at the same time wanted to be active and get outdoors. With the way the UK summer had been going with the recent heatwave, we thought the risk of bad weather would be low. So we booked a lodge at the Kielder Waterside, part of the Kielder water and Forest Park, that is in a dark sky's protected area. The Northumberland International dark sky park was created in December 2013 and is one of the largest expanses of protected night sky's in Europe. Earning a gold tier for its completely dark skys it is the best place in England for people to view the heavens. The lodge that we stayed in was a Beach Premiere Spa, and they were newly built in 2017. The site is next to the Keilder lake, boasting a 26 mile trail that goes all around the lake and leads off to accompanying villages. There are many different paths and trails, some that are far more demanding, and some that are especially fit for mountain bikers. On site there are sporting activities, a gym and an indoor swimming pool. As well as kids adventure play areas and a big bouncy pillow next to the on site pub\restaurant. There are also a lot of fun activities for kids at the centre.
