But what if I told you guys that there was another character besides those two and Kashimo who represent the “Strongest” and in my opinion, is the best representation of it for what the story is attempting to convey to the audience. If you couldn’t tell from the thumbnail already, this character is going to be Yuji Itadori. Yuji is a character who goes through all sorts of struggles in many shapes and sizes throughout the narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen and somehow comes on top in every single way he possibly can in a brutal world that exists off the fundamental rule of give and take; and I want to use this video to explain why this is so, how did Yuji beat the odds that even both Gojo and Sukuna could not? Well, I’ll break that down in this video, with that said; since I value the time of both you and I, I’ll cut this short; and get straight into the video. Before anything else, I believe it is imperative to give background on Yuji in order to understand the angle Gege Akutami takes with this character, and also why his struggle is so profound. Yuji Itadori begins the story as a high school boy who is extremely passive; he does not act unless he’s provoked, and when he is unprovoked; he typically goes about his life just attending school, and skipping his club activities in order to visit his sick grandfather in the hospital; Yuji goes about this routine up until the day his grandfather passes away; his parting words to Yuji being to simply help all those around him in anyway he could in order to pass away surrounded by others when it’s his time. He’s strong, so be the one to help people. He meets Megumi shortly after this as he and his club members were screwing around with one of Sukuna’s fingers; an artifact that Megumi was sent out by Jujutsu Society to collect; and the two head to exterminate the curse that has consumed it while the two were at the hospital. As things with the curse get dicey, Yuji consumes the artifact to gain cursed energy so he could combat the curse; only to be possessed by Sukuna as that is the fate of any human who chooses to eat one of his fingers; however, Yuji is the exception; although the shock of cursed energy did allow Sukuna to gain control; Yuji still has primary control over the body and can serve as a stable host to Sukuna and his fingers. This is a big moment for Jujutsu Society as Sukuna’s fingers cannot be destroyed directly, but can be destroyed if they’re contained in a host; and the host is destroyed. And thus, Yuji’s sensei Gojo gives him an ultimatum; live and help others by collecting all of the fingers and then being executed once your job is done, or just simply die here as he is still a risk.
