Peter Carlaftes and Kat Georges, co-directors of Three Rooms Press and editors of MAINTENANT perform at 2025 Dada Paris September 10 at La Cave Café in Montmartre, Paris. Internationally-renowned New York publisher Three Rooms Press hosted an evening of contemporary Dada performance and poetry on Wednesday, 10 September at La Cave Café in Paris, to celebrate the release of MAINTENANT 19: A Journal of Contemporary Dada Writing and Art. The evening featured dada performances from ten artists including Hannah Behrens (Amsterdam), Fork Burke (Biel/Bienne), Mona Jean Cedar & Jeff Boynton (Los Angeles), Jack Cooper (Paris/New York), Malik Crumpler (Paris/New York), S.A. Griffin (Los Angeles), Boni Joi (Zürich/New York), Antonia Alexandra Klimenko (Paris), Béné Kusendila (Brussels), and Nina Zivancevic (Paris), as well as a dada overview from MAINTENANT editors Peter Carlaftes and Kat Georges. The event featured provocative poetry and disruptive performance that centers on the journal’s theme, “ETHICS CLEANSING.” Guests and performers were encouraged to wear costumes in the spirit of Dada, the influential anti-art movement that sprouted during World War I and has been influential in counterculture movements ever since, including the Beat generation, Fluxus, punk, hip hop and more. Previous Three Rooms Press European Dada Salons have been the stuff of legend, with events during the past decade in London, Brussels, Paris, Bilbao, Bastia, Florence, and Zürich. Each salon includes performances by international and local contributors the critically-acclaimed annual contemporary dada journal, Maintenant, with five to fifteen performers per event. Performers are often in outlandish costumes, and offer very imaginative presentations of conceptual artistry, singing, dancing, and sound poetry, among other acts.
