We woke up to our first rainy day. Overall, we have had pretty good weather so we can’t really complain too much. We started out our day with breakfast at Temptations Bakery and Deli. It was a small and very busy little hub. From visitors like us getting breakfast to locals picking up their lunches. The bakery smelt delicious. They were busy baking all their own treats from bread, donuts to cinnamon buns. I made sure I prepaid for a cinnamon bun before leaving to enjoy after our visit to Hyder. / trudys-temptations-bakery-deli-49437026741... We rode the short distance to Hyder Alaska. The US Border is unmanned, however you do require going through Canadian Customs on your return. This also meant we need to complete the Arrive Canada App. The interesting thing was as soon as we entered Alaska the time changed and went back an hour. The Canadian Border Agent told us that nobody recognizes the time change and everyone stays on BC time. It was recommended we go to the Fish Creek Wildlife Observation Site. You need to purchase a ticket prior to arriving online. $6USD per person. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r10/sp... The Fish Creek Bear Viewing Area is a day-use recreation area in the Salmon River valley near Hyder, Alaska. Both brown (grizzly) and black bears can be observed and photographed at the site as they fish for chum and pink salmon in the clear shallow waters of Fish Creek and Marx Creek. Visitors will see wild bears in their natural habitat in this beautiful glacial river valley. Other wildlife frequently seen include nesting Canada geese, harlequin ducks, common mergansers, mink, beaver, bald eagles, and a wide variety of songbirds. Visitors occasionally see wolves fishing for salmon at this site. SO you read that and think…that is worth $6. However, alls we saw was pictures of bears and other wildlife. The volunteer told us that there was a bear their early and someone reported that they has saw a wolf. Back on the bike after stopping to warm up at the bakery to eat our just out of the oven cinnamon bun * I must! It was off to Smithers. The ride was uneventful besides the rain. It did start to clear up as we got closer to Smithers. We will send the next few days exploring Smithers which you can see in our next video.
