OliSUn plays the Monotone Symphony part I by Yves Klein/Pierre Henry: The 'IKB Edit In A'. This interpretation came after an automatic generation from the audio software Paul Stretch processing the sound of a flute played by LauT for another mutual project in progress. Then, while listening/discovering to this random tune, the Monotone Symphony came to my mind from itself. 25mn of pure monotone sound, in A this time, while the original is in D. Some additional treatments including reverb, overdrive, tremoloes and delicate chimes gently came along to ponctuate and emphasize this long and massive wave of sound in a Spectrum/Sonic Boom approach. The original composition dating from the 50's is divided into two parts: "Part I is a unique sound, continuous, while part II consists in an equivalent time of silence, the sound part preparing the listener to transform the experience of silence into fullness. This diptych is the exact transposition of the articulation between the visible and the invisible. Monotony is the conceptual and sonic equivalence of pictorial monochromy". The visuals come from the first public performance which took place in the presence of Yves Klein on March 9, 1960 in the large salon of the international gallery of contemporary art Maurice d'Arquian in Paris. The musical part was accompanied on this occasion of a scenic performance with three nude models, who overcoated their bodies of "Klein's blue-IKB" paint, and printed their shapes on paper, like living brushes. Yves Klein named it anthropometries. So, here is the first part. Up to you to keep up the journey with a self-silenced part II of 25mn too! Thank you for watching & listening. Enjoy the intensity of this massive wave of monotone sound! Play super loud! Warmly dedicated to Yves Klein & Sonic Boom, ones of my all-time fav artists. © Yves Klein (IKB) & OliSUn SteREo Recordings! (OSU) 1960 / 2019
