Episode 1, "Mario Kart" Original Air Date: 06.14.11 And now for something completely different... G4's Proving Ground. One of the last original productions, the series revolved around the exploits of Ryan Dunn and Jessica Chobot attempting to replicate events from pop culture media, such as video games, television, film and comic books, in real-life environments. Unlike many other, later productions by the network, Proving Ground kinda sorta tried to be a little more game-oriented than the rest. Tragically, however, co-host Ryan Dunn was killed in a car crash just six days after the first episode aired, placing the show into a temporary hiatus and preventing any chance for further episodes to be filmed, with the series ending at nine. In this, the first episode of the series, Dunn and Jessica Chobot attempt to ride the rainbow road into reality with Mario Kart. I should also note that this is one of the very few HD era G4 shows that was not automatically flagged and banned worldwide upon upload... but who knows if, and for how long, it might last...
