Sailing north-west across the pirate waters of Indonesia towards the Malacca Strait used to be dangerous, and some ships are still boarded, so there's always a slight frisson when sailboats take this route. The next leg required some consideration; our last stop in Indonesia, Kapala Jernih Island would be the launch point to cross the Malacca strait. But from Titapan, we're talking 60 nautical miles, the area is prone to strong currents as well as the occasional piracy.
