Join me as I take you on a tour of 6 historic ghost towns in Oregon. Each video will feature a tour of the town, maps to each location, and useful tips for a trip to visit. In Part 3 we visit the historic ghost town of Wasco, Oregon. As of 2022, Moro’s population is approximately 419. The town of Wasco (established in 1898) supplied goods for the many ranchers and wheat farmers in the area. However, the Great Depression struck, technology reduced the need to human labor, and just like Moro, people moved away to other towns for work. In 1936, the railroad ceased operations in 1936 - the town entered into a decline and never recovered. For more information about this location, please visit: https://investigatingthenw.com/2022/0... According to the State of Oregon: https://sos.oregon.gov/ “Ghost towns defy easy explanation.” What is a Ghost Town? 1. Has a history of decline and loss. 2. Is of historic interest. 3. Can be “home to living people - thousands of them, even.” But not enough to “fill all offices provided for under its charter.”
