Sky News political contributor Chris Uhlmann says China is sending a message that Australia is “alone and naked at the bottom of the world”. It has been revealed that a Chinese government research vessel is circumnavigating the southern coast of Australia in a path that is tracking a similar route to our deep-sea submarine cable. “It does not believe that the United States will come to our aid should push come to shove,” Mr Uhlmann said. “They are letting us know that they are in our neighbourhood, they intend to stay in our neighbourhood, and there is very little that we can do about it.”
