BT scam - remote access locked PC - clean up of hijacked laptop

One of our Customers got a scam call from "BT" and despite regular training, gave them access to her laptop via AnyDesk remote. They installed "Lock my PC" which which they enabled after she refused to give them the payment code her bank sent her after they attempted to transfer £2600 out of her account. After the usual calls to Police and her Bank I collected her laptop to investigate what they had achieved, which fortunately wasn't too much so I was able to clean things up and change all passwords. This video shows the removal of software they installed and how we got around the Lock my PC lock using a password recovery code obtained from the software Vendor. There was also a load more of investigation and clean up performed that's not shown so if you do get scammed then it's best to use your local IT team to clean things up for you. Remember, no one will call you from your Internet provider or bank unsolicited so if you get a phone call then just hang up.
