You people are not good in paying debts on time.” Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) became angry and threatened him, but the Prophet ﷺ said calmly: “O Umar, leave him. He has a right to claim. And you should advise me to pay well.” Then the Prophet ﷺ instructed Umar: “Give him his due amount — and add extra because you frightened him.” This gentle response shocked Zaid.
