BARCELONA MASTER in PHOTONICS

Photonics is a subject that has gained popularity worldwide. For this reason three different universities in Barcelona: the UPC, UB and UAB, along with the Institute of Photonic Sciences, ICFO, offer the BARCELONA MASTER IN PHOTONICS. The most important Photonics areas are covered, from Quantum Optics and Nonlinear Optics to Photonics Engineering and Optical Communications, including new fields such as Nanophotonics and Biophotonics. BARCELONA MASTER in PHOTONICS provides opportunities to start both a PhD and work in a photonics company, because syllabus covers basic and applied photonics and also theorical and experimental photonics. Therefore transverse skills like business and patents in photonics guide students to develop the whole patent process and also to create a spin off company. Students gain access to labs at every University, as well as in CD6, the Centre for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development, which operates in the field of Optical Engineering. That's not all: The Institute of Photonic Sciences, ICFO, provides the use of state-of-the-art facilities, as well as its globally recognised expertise. The Barcelona Master in Photonics is supported by successful companies such as Hamamatsu, Ocean optics, Sensofar, Mikropack, Radiantis, Grupo Goded, along with many others. Support is also provided by SECPHO, the Southern European Cluster of Photonics and Optics. The Barcelona Master in Photonics is a one-year program comprised of 60 ECTS credits taught in English. Since 2007, students coming from bachelor degrees such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, have participated. Also students from the European Erasmus Mundus Master in Photonics Engineering, Nanophotonics and Biophotonics: Europhotonics, come to Barcelona and join us, for one or two semesters".
