Cilantro is an amazing culinary herb to grow in your garden, but it is actually difficult to get established and then keep the plants happy so you have a great harvest all season. I find as soon as the tomatoes and peppers and summer crops that go so well with cilantro are ripening, the cilantro that did so well in the spring is bolted and unusable. Understanding Cilantro as a short-season, cool-loving crop helps to plan for planting in spring, summer, fall and even winter: I'll go over how we grow cilantro successfully year round, so we always have lots to harvest for our restaurant kitchen, with tips specific to each season. Welcome to the Culinary Garden, I’m Sarah. I’ve been gardening and growing for many years in all kinds of gardens - from organic farms to small residential spaces. I became a Master Gardener in 2021, and am a chef and restauranteur. In 2012 we started the Culinary Garden to grow food for our restaurant, Ducks aren’t Real. Our courtyard area includes raised beds, pergolas, fruit trees, and a greenhouse, and uses organic methods and permaculture ideas to grow food every step of the way, from seed to salad. We are located in the Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, in the middle of the Maritimes. Our south-facing garden provides a bit of a microclimate, so we are between Canadian climactic zone 5b/6a. I am making these videos to show you the growing season in a restaurant kitchen garden: planning, planting, harvesting, processing, and of course, problem-solving. I will offering experienced advice as we go from the garden to the kitchen, to inspired you to cultivate your plate no matter what your level of garden experience. #gardening #garden #gardeninglife #gardeningtips #gardeninspiration #growyourownfood #organicgardening #vegetablegarden #greenthumb #horticulture #greenhouse #grow #kitchengarden #restaurantgarden #restaurant #newbrunswick #maritimes #culinarygarden #gardendesign #foodforest #raisedbeds #landscaping #herbs #cilantro #bolting #summer #microgreens #seeds #seedstarting
