Off to Wales onboard one of Great Western Railway's 'cucumber' 800 IET units from Paddington! Due to earlier damage to the overhead wires, combined with signalling issues, services were delayed in and out of Paddington, contributing to the small hold up before we left the platform, as well as the rerouting through the Acton Main Line TfL Rail platforms, before rejoining the fast lines before Ealing Broadway. We then made our 125mph trip towards Reading, having a 3 minute delay, before continuing down to Swindon and Bristol Parkway and eventually the Severn Tunnel where we had gained back the time. The entire route was driven under the 25kV overhead wires, making the acceleration at times quite quick and enjoyable (especially for me)!
