Instead of parenting for comfort, we should be parenting for confidence. Dr. Kathryn Hecht challenges the instinct to shield children from anxiety and uncertainty, advocating instead for brave parenting - a mindset that helps kids build resilience by embracing discomfort and facing fears head-on. Braver kids, she believes, are the foundation of a better world. A child clinical psychologist and anxiety specialist, Dr. Hecht is a partner at Anxiety Treatment Resources and a nationally recognized expert in exposure-based CBT for anxiety and OCD. With a doctorate from the University of Minnesota’s top-ranked developmental clinical psychology program, she has trained at leading institutions, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Hecht is also the author of the “Be Brave Activity Book” and the creator of “DareDecks,” a tool designed to help kids and teens face their fears.
