What is pH & How to Measure - pH is the Measurement of Alkalinity and Acidity in Cleaning Solutions

pH is the measurement used to determine the relative alkalinity, acidity or neutrality of a solution. All other things being equal, the higher the pH, the better the cleaning. There is a 10-fold increase in alkalinity or acidity for each pH unit increase. Also, the lower the pH, the more stable the dyes in carpets, rugs and upholstery. Have you ever noticed that nearly all detergents are alkaline? Why? Because most soil is acidic! SECTIONS IN THE VIDEO: • pH stands for “Power of Hydrogen.” All other things being equal, the higher the pH, the better the cleaning. The lower the pH, the more stable the dye.
