County: Hampshire Date filmed: 26/08/2020 Route: West Coastway Line Cosham Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barriers Crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Location: High Street, Cosham Trains: 3 Class 450s (South Western Railway) - 3:18 Portsmouth Harbour ➡ London Waterloo (via Basingstoke) The level crossing located on the high street which runs through Cosham, and next to Cosham's Railway Station on a mainland section within the north of the city of Portsmouth's boundaries, filmed during an early evening. This level crossing has two loud alarms which sound to warn pedestrians of lowering barriers and approaching trains. The four barriers here are also of a fairly tired state, since the skirts on the two barriers on the side of the road closest to the footbridge swing freely, and one of the end boom lights of one of the opposite barriers has been chipped from where the swinging skirt has made contact with the other barrier numerous times. There is additional signage for pedestrians here, as well as a footbridge to use when the barriers are lowered for trains to serve the busy station. A trio of Class 450s run by South Western Railway stops in the station and departs over the level crossing for London Waterloo via Basingstoke in this video, the middle unit of which bearing the fairly new livery of South Western Railway. Thanks for watching!
