The US states of Colorado and New Mexico were once home to one of the largest networks of narrow gauge railroads in the world. The biggest of these railroads was the Denver and Rio Grande Western, which boasted nearly 2,000 miles of narrow gauge rail lines at its peak. In August of 1925, the Rio Grande took delivery of 10 K-36 type locomotives, built by the Baldwin Locomotive works. These impressive machines went on to pull trains all over the narrow gauge network, with the vast majority of the locomotives surviving into the preservation era. In recognition of a century of service for the K-36 locomotives, we are going to take a look at every single one of the operable K-36s as they pull trains in Southwestern Colorado and Northern New Mexico. We will go through each locomotive individually, beginning with number 480 and proceeding all the way through number 489. 00:00 Video Intro 00:16 K-36 Locomotive Background Info 03:16 480 04:49 481 06:29 482 08:14 483 08:25 484 10:27 486 12:30 487 14:22 488 15:18 489 19:46 Conclusion #railway #traintravel #steamtrain #colorado This video was made possible by my supporters on Patreon: Beyond Aviation Ben Edrich Callum McNamara Clarence Jackson Hayden M Jackson Gorski Jim Walker John S Greene Jovanni Cruz Lachlan B.
