First is the lifter problems these engine are facing which is a major concern for me, second is the grid heater bolt problem that has never been address, the regen issues, VGT actuator failures and EGR valve problems. lastly is the relatively low power number this engine puts out and the weak 6 speed transmission that is paired to this engine giving me a weak towing performance. for those reason this 6.7L Cummins engine falls to the bottom. Next at number 3 is the HO 6.7L cummins engine. this HO engine is putting down a ton of power but is still using the base engine from the SO 6.7L cummins so will face the same issues ideally and so for that reason I put it at number 3. at number 2 is the 6.6L duramax, this engine is putting down great power figures and was very impressive when towing my 14,000lbs trailer. this L5P duramax diesel is also a pretty darn reliable unit with only some minor issues popping up since its debut in 2017.
