Dresden Freiberger Straße railway station is where I first caught a train for myself in Germany. It might seem like a small thing, but learning the different tickets and how to use the ticket machines has been greatly beneficial to me ever since! The station is across the road from the Dresden World Trade Centre and next to the Tram station of the same name and is a busy little transportation hub. The railway station just consists of an island platform for local S-Bahn services S1 from Meissen to Schöna, and S2 from Pirna to Dresden Airport. There are four railway lines that pass the station, these carry trains that do not stop there, these include: local S-Bahn services; regional VVO services; EuroCity Express services travelling between Hamburg and Budapest; ICE trains travelling across Germany; and a wide range of freight traffic that includes container trains, coal trains, steel trains, car trains and intermodal freight. This video was taken in short bursts over 5 days in February, whilst I was waiting for trains from Freiberger Straße, it features a large number of different types of passing and stopping passenger and freight trains.
