Priya came to Taiwan in 1987 with her dad who was a visiting professor at the time. After becoming the first Indian college student in Taiwan, she went on to also get a master's and a doctorate from some of the country's top institutions. During that time, Priya got married, raised kids, and ran her own interpreting business that specializes in focus groups for 20 years. In 2022, after she finished her doctorate degree, Priya was diagnosed with cancer. She suspects that the stress of writing a thesis might have played a part. Thanks to her optimistic attitude, she was able to make a full recovery and keep working throughout her stay in the hospital. Now she hopes to stay in Taiwan and eventually hand her business over to her daughter.
