I'm building a set of free-range speakers using Markaudio CHR-70 drivers, following a classic MDF construction while adhering to golden ratio proportions for optimal acoustic balance. The enclosure design prioritizes natural resonance control and smooth dispersion, allowing the full-range drivers to perform without coloration. MDF provides a stable, low-resonance foundation, ensuring clean midrange and tight bass response. Carefully calculated internal volumes and baffle placement enhance imaging and soundstage, creating an open and dynamic listening experience. This build merges precision craftsmanship with timeless design principles, delivering a refined yet natural sound profile. UPDATE MAY 2024: Having fully run in these drivers, these speakers have superb clarity and a fantastic sound stage.
