We now have the Charlton & Jenrick Bakechef wood fired cooking stove on live display at Natural Heating in Attleborough / Norfolk I’ve been having fun putting it through it’s paces baking sourdough bread this week in the shop ! The loaf didn’t last long and half of it ended up going home with some very lucky customers on Monday evening ! This stove is pretty special. It has a large flip up lid and cooking plate with removable hot plate centre on top… a mid section cooking rail for cooking in the firebox plus a large oven with four tray heights and capable of taking two racks at a time with full size baking trays in the lower oven. So far, I’ve done roast chicken (160-180deg constant temperature) and baked potatoes ( 200deg c) plus sourdough bread (220-240deg c). The oven is pretty easy to balance once you get the hang of it. This bread could have done with just 5 mins less on the crust - but to be fair, the phones kept ringing and shop was full of customers so I couldn’t get it out the oven when I wanted too !
