In this video, I walk through the full build process of a crumb-catching bread cutting board, a new design we recently created to pair with our bread bow knife. The bread bow knife has been our biggest seller at craft shows and on Etsy for the past three years, and this board was designed specifically to complement it. The board features an Ash base with a removable grooved insert, made from the same hardwood species we use for our bread bow knives. The grooves allow the knife to fully cut through the bread while crumbs fall into hidden pockets below, keeping your countertop clean. This build combines traditional woodworking, hand tools, and CNC machining, including: Milling and glue-ups using leftover hardwood Edge jointing with a Stanley #7 hand plane CNC machining for crumb pockets, grooves, and profiles Careful sanding and edge treatment A food-safe finish using mineral oil and beeswax Whether you’re interested in woodworking, CNC projects, or handcrafted kitchen goods, I hope you enjoy following along with this build.
