I wasn’t going to post this but a 21 year old me, having no real idea what a major scale was, wouldn’t believe they would arrive at this point so here it is….i’ve played it better and I’ve played it worse. This was how it was a few days ago…not perfect but in the process! I’m no @hadrienferaud (thanks to for the inspiration from your sound check shenanigans 😉) and I’m certainly no Jacko, but this is where I’ve got to…so far…probably about 4 months in! I would say this is near the midpoint in my process where I’ve acquired all the notes and now I’m working on the execution and understanding. It’s likely I’ll work on this for quite a while attempting to get the phrasing fluent and comfortable, without as well as and with the track. Always tracking left- and right-hand technique, adjusting and refining. Using these musical phrases as another vehicle for part of my technical practice. I was years into my playing career before I found Jaco and I shied away from his more technical pieces. It’s only now as I dig further into his vast collection of recordings that I realise the depth and magnitude of his influence, and how much there is to be gained from studying him. Seeing those who’ve learned from and studied him, and carried it forward, I felt I had to dig into some of it…but the more I explore, the more I realise he brought a ridiculous amount to the world of the Bass Guitar and music, and his legacy will echo through time for all of us to enjoy through his recordings, and those musicians who use him as a springboard to bring them further. #practicediary #maypractice #learningforever #respectthemusic #neverfinished
