The cat is out of the bag. Data shows companies that are committed to design as a key business strategy out-perform S&P 500 companies significantly, as much as 2X. Beth Comstock, SVP at GE says it best, "What business needs now is design. What design needs now is making it about business." Companies and designers are slowly evolving and adapting to this reality. Some companies and designers are trailblazers and reaping the rewards but some are struggling to adapt. This presentation will help bring awareness to various levels of design maturity and a framework to orient where you and your team are at. In the context of this framework, we will also explore ideas, experiences, and ways to level up your career and your team to drive design as a business strategy. Bio: Just like Kip, Albert "loves technology". Albert, a Co-Founder at Spiff and Chief Experience Officer, is a sucker for Jared Hess' movies. His work-life manifesto is to bring humanity through Design Thinking. Prior to Spiff, he was a Product Design Director at Instructure. Instrumental in the company’s successful IPO, he helped launch products that were a catalyst for creating new markets. Albert was one of the original members of North Temple, one of the earliest UX Teams in the Silicon Slopes. A lifelong learner, he has helped build numerous Human-Centered Design teams. 'Design as a Business Strategy' was presented on July 11, 2019. Sponsored by the V School.
