Aside from Daniel Lopatin’s famous Sega-haze alter ego, nearly every other release on the label had been overshadowed and forgotten. One of the more interesting releases near the end of Curatorial Club short life was the Airbird / Megafortress split. Airbird / Megafortress is a split between artists Joel Ford (one half of Games) and Bill Gillim (known for his self-titled released from the label known as Software). On Side A, Joel Ford unleashes bittersweet pop vocals on top of slowly burning piano and galactic synths. Ford later converts his somber attitude to his hazy Games jams he is known for. On the flipside, Megafortress fuses reverb drenched gospel pop with old world spiritual instrumentation. This cassette isn’t the best sounding quality I’ve heard, but it isn’t necessarily the worst. I’m mainly uploading it is because there is seemingly no digital copy of this album online. The closest I’ve managed to find are the tracks scattered across websites such as Myspace and Youtube. Even then, I can’t even find them all digitally. Note: This is a cassette rip. There will be tape hiss. As a side note, there is no artwork on the back of the J-card. Curatorial Club releases don’t seem to have them.
