DJI Neo 2 skiing follow mode in Villars, Switzerland backcountry

February 2026 epic snowfall across the Alps, was the perfect time to check out the DJI Neo 2 skiing follow mode. This was filmed when solo skiing, just me and the Neo 2 in the Villars-sur-Ollon back and side country. The Neo 2 follows brilliantly in skiing mode even when picking up speed, it anticipates turns well and does not overreact like the first edition did. It is still not foolproof, whilst the collision detection is great, it struggles with trees and branches which it encounters as it swings side to side to try and frame the skier. Flat view point should also absolutely be avoided when skiing as the Neo 2 cannot react fast enough to rapid loss of height on a steep slope, and makes collisions with the snow surface. The obstacle avoidance doesn't seem to cope well with this situation as can be seen in this video.
