Fastest New Brass Prep? Henderson Trimmer for the Win!!

This week I address another small issue that came up during my loading process. I need to chamfer my case mouths on this new Alpha brass! I found that the first loading on the new brass was nice and smooth, but after sizing and everything, the second loading was giving me a few with some tight fits and shaved a little of my jackets off. I realized the cases were cut straight, no taper applied to them at all from the factory. Learn from me! If you get new brass, go ahead and process it with a chamfer and deburr!! I figure this was the excuse I needed to get the Henderson trimmer set up and change calibers on it finally. This was pretty easy to do. Just a bolt that comes out the back and the cutter head removes and install the new one. Very simple. I like it. Then, I needed to install a new stop bolt. I had the previous on too tight and loosened the holding stud, so I don't think my plan to keep my .223 setting is going to work, lol. But, after threading the bolt through the nut so I could reverse it and have the flat side facing the machine, I was able to get my stop set. The only thing I don't like about the Henderson is getting the initial stop set. But, after a little tweaking and adjusting, it is now set and locked in! I am now sizing and getting all my case necks run through with a mandrel. Then they will get cleaned of all the lube and my next step will be to chamfer and deburr all of these cases. I think it will be a far more consistent process than trying to do the manual way by hand. Almost time for my match, so I still have a lot of work to do the next few evenings getting my ammo loaded up and ready to roll. I will be prepping for this match right up until I got to bed Saturday night for a few hours of sleep. That is the way I like it! I stay busy and keep getting things done!
