Speech on Girls' Fair Sports, Parental Rights, Trans Activism, IL26-001, & IL26-638

Initiatives IL26-638 and IL26-001 in Washington respond to harms from gender ideology in schools, especially to girls’ sports, single-sex spaces, and parental rights. School officials are allowing girls to be forced to undress with and compete against trans-identified boys, while some staff socially transition students, hide it from parents, and promote genderqueer theory. Opponents of the sports bill falsely claim it will cause genital inspections and increase abuse risk, ignoring that students already need medical clearance and doctors know their patients’ sex. Although schools sometimes must protect students from abusive parents, secrecy and affirming body dysmorphia are not valid safeguards, particularly given ideologically driven educators highlighted in parent resources. I spoke up in support of these initiatives. I chose to focus on the overall badness of transitioning minors who have gender dysphoria.
