These videos were what finally convinced me I wanted as well switch to an alternative keyboard layout. As a German speaker, I chose the Neo2 layout which features not only ergonomically optimized letter arrangement for touch-typing German texts, but also additional layers for easy typing of punctuation characters, other special characters and also for control and navigation keys. The feeling of typing with the Neo2 layout is great (esp. now with my new DIY Neo2-optimized ergonomic keyboard from my neomys videos). With this and my other two Neo-QWERTZ-comparison videos I try to illustrate the benefit of using an ergonomic keyboard layout in general, and the Neo2 layout in particular, which is less finger movement and less need to leave the 10-finger touch typing position when compared to the usual QWERTY/Z layout. I hope it may make some more people realize that the keyboard layout they use today is far form being reasonable and can convice some people to give alternative layouts a try. I recorded the videos after having used the Neo2 layout for a while and getting more and more used to it, so my QWERTZ 10-finger touch typing skills were a bit rusty then. I don't have any problems in using computers with a QWERTZ layout now that I am using Neo2 as my "primary" keyboard layout, but I am not doing clean 10-finger touch typing then, rather 6 1/2 finger semi-touch typing. And switching to QWERTZ works best when typing on a different keyboard than the one I am used to type on with Neo2. But for the video I tried to get back to clean 10-finger touch typing in QWERTZ on my primary keyboard to make it a good comparison — which gave me a hard time in typing QWERTZ. So please excuse my limited QWERTZ skills here. If you are a good 10-finger QWERTZ touch typer — or a better Neo2 typer than me, or a Dvorak or Colemak or … guy — I would be glad to see a video reply to my video of you typing the same or a comparable text :)
