A bolt-action rifle is a manually operated firearm where the shooter cycles the bolt to perform all actions of the firing cycle. The bolt itself is a cylindrical mechanism that contains the firing pin and extractor, and it is manually moved back and forth by a handle. The firing cycle After a shot is fired, the action is manually cycled through a sequence of four main movements: 1. Unlock: The shooter rotates the bolt handle upward. This action disengages the locking lugs—protrusions on the bolt—from recesses in the rifle's receiver, allowing the bolt to move freely. 2. Extract and eject: The shooter pulls the bolt handle straight back. The bolt's extractor grabs the rim of the spent cartridge casing and pulls it out of the chamber. A spring-loaded ejector then kicks the empty casing out of the rifle. This motion also cocks the firing pin inside the bolt, putting it under spring tension. 3. Feed and chamber: The shooter pushes the bolt handle forward. As the bolt moves, it strips a new cartridge from the magazine and pushes it into the rifle's chamber. 4. Lock and fire: The shooter rotates the bolt handle downward. This locks the bolt's lugs back into the receiver, sealing the breech and making the firearm ready to fire again. When the trigger is pulled, the sear releases the spring-loaded firing pin to strike the primer and ignite the new cartridge. If You Like This Video, Don't Forget to like comments & share the video.
