The Sarasota Music Archive's Jazz Happy Hour series presents The Pete Carney Quintet Redline Grooves: Chicago Jazz Sunshine City Sundays Powerful Days Marmot Dance Lush Life by Billy Strayhorn The Before Times Corcovado by Antonio Carlos Jobim The Big Send Up Redline Groove **all songs written by Pete Carney except where indicated Dr. Pete Carney, saxophone As a jazz musician, Dr. Pete Carney enjoys a career as a saxophonist and arranger who has worked with Grammy winners Kirk Franklin, Tito Puente, the Winans, and rock legends, The Plain White T’s. His greatest experiences—opening for B.B. King in a Mississippi cotton field, Al Green at The Superdome, and Aretha Franklin in Chicago. He has performed with The Tommy Dorsey Band, Milt Jackson, Curtis Fuller, Arturo Sandoval, The Zapp Band, Willie Chirino, and The New World Symphony, Venice Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, SRQ, and recently directed a concert of Jazz arrangements of Radiohead with musicians from the St. Louis Symphony. Touring on the Chitlin’ Blues Circuit for three years as a sideman, he worked for Blues Hall of Famers, Little Milton and Tyrone Davis. Dr. Carney is Currently at State College of Florida as the Chair of Performing Arts and Director of Jazz Studies. Alara Ureksoy, vocals is a producer, songwriter, and who recently completed her degree in Music Production Technology at State College of Florida. At SCF, she graduated first in her class, winning the award of "Most Outstanding Producer." Her main career interests lie in songwriting, mixing and mastering audio for other creators. Her songs, collaborations, and recent albums are available on Soundcloud. Jean Bolduc, drums As one of the most in demand live and studio drummers in Tampa, Jean Bolduc is playing jazz somewhere most nights of the week. He has worked with artists including Jeff Coffin, Bryan Hughes, Mark Moultrup, and can be heard every Sunday in St. Pete at the Floridian Social. Mark Moultrup, piano Keyboardist, composer, arranger, vocalist, and educator, Mark Moultrup is a Detroit native now residing in St Petersburg, FL. He has performed throughout the United States and abroad and has appeared at the Detroit International Jazz Festival 11 times. He has performed extensively throughout Florida at venues like the Sarasota Jazz Club, Sarasota Jazz Fest, The Palladium, the Mahaffey, the Sunday Jazz Project at the Independent, and more. Mark has shared the stage and or recorded with a diverse array of internationally known artists from the genres of jazz, pop, funk, and musical theater. Geoff Neuman, bass Dr. Geoff Neuman is an experienced conductor, music educator and performing musician and plays bass in the Las Vegas Philharmonic. He has completed a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Conducting and Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With over 20 years of experience as a music educator, his focus has been on string education along with conducting orchestras and band ensembles. While teaching in Clark County, he was part of the national Grammy Signature School. He is a sought out clinician for both bass and conducting. He has recently been appointed as the Director of Instrumental Music Studies at the State College of Florida and the Bradenton Symphony Orchestra.
