Luminaries: Unravelling the biology and treatment of depression

In Australia, one in six people are currently experiencing depression, anxiety or both, with women reporting higher rates of depression, feelings of depression and anxiety than men. Major life transitions, such as pregnancy and motherhood, can impact on women’s mental health and wellbeing. This webinar explores the biological changes in the brains of those with mental illness, and current research that seeks to understand sex differences in the biology. New research focuses on how various approaches to the treatment of maternal depression alter the brain as well as offspring outcomes.
