Contrary to the earlier claims by the police, an internal investigation into the violence at Mathura Road during a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi on December 15 has revealed that the Delhi Police fired a few shots in the air, sources have said. The recent revelations are contrary to the Delhi Police's earlier claims that not a single bullet was fired during the clashes between the protesters and the police. In the probe, the Delhi Police has also said the shots were fired in self-defense after the protesters went haywire and resorted to "vandalism and arson".
